Zac Denton (pictured far left) was the youngest member of The Ocean Party, who sadly passed away after complications with a cyst blocking the fluids from draining his brain. He was 24. Zac left Wagga Wagga at 18 to join his brother Lachlan, who along with his High School mates had formed their excellent band, working tirelessly recording eight albums and touring extensively around the country. Zac was an excellent producer, songwriter and contributed to other stellar outfits like Ciggie Witch, Pregnancy and Hobby Farm. This show is dedicated to him. We also pay tribute to the passing of Tony Joe White and unveil some great new releases from Canadian Madeline Roger, duo Desi and Cody and two doses of excellent guitar instrumentals from Nathan Salsburg and Jim Ghedi teaming up with Toby Hay.

I don’t know about you, but music makes me high. Everytime I discover new sounds to share with you, there’s a rush, an excitement, even a dread – I wonder – will I feel like this again? Inevitably I do, which is why I love making these programs. We start with two energetic UK ensembles who love the music of West Africa, Me and My Friends and Vula Viel (pictured). We then move through progressive psych to folk to orchestral pop to Americana to post punk and end with the show with a BANG! thanks to a stunning duo – Robbie Fulks and Linda Gail Lewis who certainly go Wild Wild Wild.

Davey Craddock has delivered a fantastic follow up to his 2016 release, City West – it’s an urgent, anxious and dark collection of tunes lyrically and sonically, with a dash of noise and chaos in the mix. That doesn’t mean the songs are messy, Davey is class songwriter with a stellar attention to detail that will drag you in. He joins me via Skype from Perth ahead of his East Coast tour and performances at Dashville Skyline and Out on The Weekend. As well from the West, Carla Geneve and Bri Clark who have incredibly bright futures, Angie McMahon in session and the return of Sydney’s Family Fold.
